Designing for trust on Instagram

Overview

This project was conducted in collaboration with IXDA Atlanta as part of the graduate course LMC 6399: Discovery and Invention. Against the backdrop of an election year, the team at IXDA sought to explore young adults' news consumption habits. Our goal was to understand how young adults engage with news content on Instagram and develop trust in the information presented.

Over a 10-week period, we conducted a survey with over 70 participants and carried out 15 semi-structured interviews. Using thematic analysis, we identified key insights and proposed four design recommendations aimed at helping users sustain trust in the news they encounter on Instagram.
